Eid al-Fitr (Islamic)

Eid al-Fitr, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is an important Islamic holiday celebrated at the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It marks a time of joy, gratitude, and community after a month of spiritual reflection and self-discipline.

The holiday was established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the 7th century and has been celebrated by Muslims around the world ever since. The date of Eid al-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the new moon, which marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

In the United States, Eid al-Fitr has been celebrated since the arrival of Muslim immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. It became more visible and widely practiced in the late 20th century as Muslim communities grew and organized Islamic centers and mosques across the country.

Today, Eid al-Fitr in the USA is celebrated with prayers at mosques or open fields, communal meals, gift-giving, and acts of charity known as Zakat al-Fitr. In many cities, large public celebrations and festivals are held, and some schools and workplaces allow time off to recognize the significance of the holiday.

Below list is a conversion from Islamic lunar calendar to Gregorian calendar, it may have deviations as regional is determined after sighting the crescent moon.
